The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) is a nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals seeking a rewarding career in the Aged Care and Disability sectors. This course equips students with the essential skills and knowledge to provide person-centred support to older individuals and people living with a disability across a range of settings, including residential aged care facilities, home care environments, and community care services.
Through a combination of theory, practical simulation, and real-world placement, students will gain competencies in delivering physical, emotional, and behavioural support, implementing individualised care plans, understanding dementia, and promoting independence and quality of life for clients.

Entry Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrolment
- Be reasonably physically fit (due to the physical demands of the role)
- Complete a pre-enrolment interview with the Enrolment Manager and, if needed, with the Trainer
- Complete Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment via LLN Robot and determine a student’s digital literacy skills before enrolment

- Pre-Training Review Form
- LLN Assessment
- Valid photo ID
- Proof of age and residency (Victorian residency and concession eligibility if applicable)
- USI (Unique Student Identifier) details
- Evidence of citizenship/permanent residency or a valid visa (for Skills First applicants)
- Completed Evidence of Eligibility and Student Declaration Form (for government-funded enrolments)
Pre-Training Review (PTR)
The Pre-Training Review (PTR) is conducted to ensure you are enrolled in the most suitable course and to identify any support you may need. As part of this process, your Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills and Digital Literacy needs will be assessed.
- LLN and Digital Literacy results do not affect your eligibility for enrolment.
- The assessments are used only to identify whether you may require additional support.
- Your training and assessment needs will be determined based on the PTR and LLN results.
- Outcomes of your PTR will be communicated to you via email or interview.
- All information is kept confidential in line with JTI’s Privacy Policy.
This course is current as per training.gov.au.
1. Blended Delivery (Face-to-Face & Virtual)
· Weekly virtual classes via Zoom 1 day per week (5 hours class +1-hour support)
· Scheduled face-to-face simulation sessions on campus for 3 days
· Access to course resources and activities via Moodle
· Online support from qualified Trainers and assessors with extensive industry experience
· Ideal for learners seeking structured study with accelerated completion options
2. Self-Paced Delivery
· Flexible self-paced learning through Moodle
· Ongoing trainer support via email, phone, and forums
· Optional fortnightly tutorial sessions available online
· Ideal for learners who prefer autonomy and time flexibility
Simulated Training Environment: Simulation sessions are designed to replicate real workplace scenarios, utilising industry-standard equipment and practices.
Third Party Arrangements
Job Training Institute does not deliver this course through third party arrangements. We use brokers or agents for recruitment of students, but not for training. Job Training Institute is responsible for the quality of the training and assessment in compliance with VET standards, and for the issuance of the AQF certification documentation
Delivery Venue for Practical class
Simulation class will be delivered at one of our campuses. Some students may take the option of attending online classes depending upon Individual cases.

All students are encouraged to submit assignments online.
This qualification includes a mandatory minimum of 120 hours of vocational placement in an approved aged care or disability facility.
Students unable to attend simulation sessions must complete 140 hours of work placement. (For students who do not participate in structured simulation sessions delivered by JTI, an additional 20 hours (totaling 140 hours) of work placement is required. This compensates for the skills practice, contextualized scenarios, and competency development that would otherwise be delivered in the simulated environment.
o Before placement, students must attend a Work Placement Preparation Workshop (Manual Handling, Infection Control, and Personalized Support Skills)
o Workshops can be attended in person or via Zoom. Online participants must also submit a valid Manual Handling Certificate
• Additional Work Placement Requirements:
o HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (as per provider requirements)
o National Police Check (issued within the last 12 months)
o COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (minimum two doses)
